I am thrilled to have been selected to participate in the ESU-ESUI Masterclass on Prostate Biopsy, held in Marseille, France on May 16-17, 2024. This prestigious event brings together leading experts in the field to share insights and discuss the latest advancements in prostate cancer detection.

     During the masterclass, we explored state-of-the-art tools and methodologies for prostate biopsy, including the comparative benefits and challenges of transrectal versus transperineal approaches. The in-depth discussions and presentations, from pioneers of the highest caliber, such as Veeru Kasivisvanathan , Francesco Giganti and Maarten de Rooij l, emphasized the importance of precision MRI reading and applying latest technologies for better detection of clinically significant prostate cancer.

     Four years ago, we launched a fusion biopsy program at CHU Saint-Pierre   UMC Sint-Pieter which has greatly enhanced our ability to diagnose prostate cancer with precision. This program integrates MRI and ultrasound imaging, significantly improving the accuracy of biopsies, resulting in higher detection rates and better patient outcomes. Continuous medical progress and education, such as that provided by the European Association of Urology Masterclass, are vital to ensure we deliver the highest standard of care to our patients. Today, our urology department conducts over 40 biopsies each month, attracting patients from all over #Belgium 🇧🇪. This initiative helps accurately diagnose clinically significant prostate cancer, reducing the anxiety associated with uncertainty in prostate cancer detection.

     Being part of this masterclass has been an invaluable experience, allowing for rich exchanges of knowledge and best practices that are pivotal in advancing our fight against prostate cancer. I am looking forward to applying these cutting-edge techniques and insights in my practice to enhance patient outcomes.
